Ottawa Valley
The Ottawa Valley
began forming 600 million years ago, and today the land forms a "trench"
or "valley" in both the Province of Ontario and the Province
of Quebec. The Ottawa Valley has a well defined river "The
Ottawa River" running through the centre of this land mass.
The land within the watershed of the Ottawa River is know as the "Ottawa
Valley".
The Ottawa Valley stretches
from Ottawa, Canada's capital city, westward to the wilderness of Ontario's
world-renow ned Algonquin P ark in the west. More than half the Valley
is wilderness: 2.4 million hectares (6 million acres) of pristine waterways,
rolling woodlands and dramatic landforms. This landscape stimulates
an out-of-doors lifestyle with recreation opportunities that are varied
and adaptable to season, scenery and technical challenge.
