Collmac Lumber
9 February 1989
Extreme cold played a part in fighting this fire. The temperature was 40 degrees below zero. The entire department was called upon to control and extinguish the fire, Tri-Township Fire Department also assisted. It was contained to the dry kiln in which it started. This was difficult to achieve because the kilns were one beside the other and filled with dry pine. Fire lines had to be kept open, if they were shut off they would immediately freeze and would be useless. This fire started at approximately 1:00 a.m. and continued to burn until approximately 10:00 a.m.
