Cockburn Boathouses, Ottawa River Shore
October 18, 1960 1:58 p.m.
The cockburn Boathouses were situated along the Ottawa River in the vicinity of the pointerboat monument. On October 18th at 1:58 p.m. a call was received at the fire department stating that the boathouses were on fire. Upon arrival they were completely engulfed in flames. The fire burnt so quickly that three boats, three boat shells and one canoe were lost to the flames. At 4:00 p.m. there was nothing left.
