258 – 272 Pembroke Street West – October 28th , 2006

A t approximately 21:35 hours the fire department responded to a report of a fire in the alleyway at 270 Pembroke Street West . Upon arrival it was observed that the fire was in the structure and was fully involved. Over the next eight hours every available fire fighter was involved in battling this blaze. The strong easterly winds gusting at times to over 90 km. an hour created a major concern. The age and structure of the buildings created additional challenges in preventing the spread of fire. Through very aggressive fire fighting tactics we were able to protect Vogue Cleaners from becoming involved in this fire. Exposures were protected and the fire fighters courageously battled the wind, and cold to keep the fire from expanding beyond these buildings. This fire displaced 12 occupants and 3 businesses. There were no injuries. .
