UtilitiesThis Section of the Works, Engineering and Utilities Department are responsible for the Water Purification Plant and the Pollution Control Plant. The Water Purification Plant built in 1984 is located on Riverside Drive on the shores of the Ottawa River. Since the time of development the Plant has met all Ministry required upgrades. In 2004 the addition of a mandatory Backwash facility has been added to provide additional water treatment and cleansing before any water re-enters the Ottawa River. The Pollution Control Plant originally built in 1969 is located on Rankin Street at the easterly end of the City on the shores of the Ottawa River. Ministry requirements have legislated a substantial remodelling and increase in facility functions with construction commencing in the summer of 2004, and ending in the fall of 2006. The project is expected to last two (2) years. Lead Testing UpdateClick here for further information
